Gates
Where some have a strong preference for aesthetically graying wood, others prefer consistent colour. For gates and fences, both finishes are possible. Both options have one crucial point in common: the warm wood look that gives your gate that extra cachet.

Accoya® and padauk

Quality invariably comes first. A wooden gate should not only match the style of your home, it should also withstand different weather conditions. Wind, rain, snow and frost - a real challenge for most woods. Not for padauk and Accoya®.

Varnished Accoya® wood gate

Accoya® is a rock solid wood that will last for years. Proof of this is the 30-year warranty. Varnishing the wood keeps the colour consistent, without covering the wood look altogether. The texture of the wood remains visible but is extremely subtle, creating a soft look-and-feel.

The downside is that your fence or gate made of Accoya® wood will have to be varnished every 3-5 years, depending on weather conditions. The positioning of the gate also plays a role. A wooden gate standing under trees requires a new varnishing job faster than one not surrounded by greenery.

Unvarnished padauk gate

A gate or fence made of padauk will also last for years, at least 20 years. Typically, a gate made of untreated padauk gradually ages. From red over brown to stylish silver grey. And at every stage, you enjoy the warm, distinctive wood look.

Padouk is ultra-easy to maintain. Indeed, varnishing, painting or oiling is not necessary. However, you should clean the wooden gate once a year with DS Green Cleaner.
