About wood
As a customer, it is difficult to immediately assess the quality of a pinewood fence. At De Sutter Naturally we choose Scandinavian pine with conviction. The benefits of this wood are remarkable.

Solid pinewood
Plants grow more slowly in the cold northern region than in warmer areas. This strenghtens the wood. European redwood is even more solid than other Scandinavian pine such as spruce, because it grows even slower, increasing the wood density even more.
European redwood can also be dried more efficiently. In our drying ovens, the wood is dried until it reaches a maximum moisture level of 22%. This ensures we can impregnate the wood optimally.

Quarter sawn timber
After it is dried, wood is sawn. The sawing method has a strong influence on the solidity of the eventual posts, and that is why De Sutter Naturally opts for the technique of quarter sawing. This time-intensive method requires the most work, but also guarantees the most sustainable result.
We can saw four posts from one trunk. A sturdy, thick tree trunk is sawn in four parts and from each 'quarter' we make a post. That is a conscious choice to ensure maximum strength. Because the growth rings are sawn through, the wood will dry evenly and there will be no cracks. The result of this treatment method is a very sturdy and durable post.

Optimal impregnation
Subsequently, the sawn European redwood is completely impregnated. This allows us to make the wood resistant to insects, fungus and soft rot. The result? A wooden horse fence that you can enjoy for many years. We therefore provide a 20-year anti-rot warranty with confidence.
A high-quality wooden fence made from the superior wood type European redwood will, thanks to its intensive treatment, last for at least 20 years in all weather conditions. This makes it a sustainable investment that you can enjoy for many years.

European redwood is the strongest, most impregnable and most sustainable wood in its class. With 20 years of an anti-rot warranty.
