- What does the law say about shelters?
Horses can perfectly be kept on a pasture all year round. This applies only on the condition that there is a shelter with a dry lying area, sufficient water, and that - if necessary - extra feed is made available.
For paddock shelters, you can choose between individual shelters or a group shelter for several horses. With this last form it is important to provide sufficiently large shelters. Adequate lying space must be available for each animal at all times.
When you opt for an open shelter - which can be just fine - do not locate the open side facing the prevailing wind direction. Otherwise, you are running the risk that the lying area is getting wet because the wind brings in the rain.
- What shelters has De Sutter Naturally developed?
De Sutter Naturally has designed horse shelters which fully comply with all statutory regulations. For example, you will find single shelters in our range designed for a single horse. The outer dimensions of the floor area measure 4 m x 3.3 m. That is more than sufficient for one horse. For two horses, you can choose our double shelter. This double shelter is 6.15 m wide.
An additional great advantage of these shelters is that you can erect these constructions up to 40m² in your meadow without a building permit.
